Superbooth 2026 is just days away and we couldn’t be more excited. From May 7 to 9, 2026, we’ll be at FEZ Berlin, Stand H102, ready to let you play the synthesizer we’ve spent years building: the MD850 Vibes. If you’re heading to the world’s most important synthesizer show, this post is your invitation to come say hello, plug in a pair of headphones, and find out what Austrian Performance Synthesizer really means.
Why Superbooth Matters to Us
Superbooth isn’t a trade show. It’s a yearly gathering of the people who actually care — builders, players, sound designers, and the curious. For a small Austrian synthesizer manufacturer like Mayer EMI, there is no better place on the planet to put a finished instrument in front of the people it was built for.
This year is special. We’re not just showing prototypes or talking about a roadmap. The MD850 Vibes is real, it ships, and we want you to hear it.
What’s Waiting for You at Stand H102
We’ve packed the booth with the kind of experience we’d want as visitors ourselves: hands-on stations, no waiting around, real headphones (not those airport-style ones), and the team that actually designed the instrument standing right there to answer questions.
Here’s what you’ll get to do:
- Play the MD850 Vibes uninterrupted. Multiple stations, full headphone setups, an extensive factory patch library — sit down for as long as you want.
- Meet Horst Mayer in person. Founder, designer, and the engineer behind the architecture. Ask the hard questions; he likes them.
- Hear exclusive sound design demos. New patches and wavetables we’ve been working on for months, premiered live at the booth.
- See the SynthStation workflow in action. Synth, drums, clip launcher, and mixer in a single instrument — no laptop, no DAW, no excuses.
The MD850 Vibes: An Austrian Performance Synthesizer
For anyone discovering us at Superbooth for the first time, here’s what makes the MD850 Vibes different from anything else on the show floor.
A Four-in-One SynthStation
The MD850 Vibes isn’t just a synthesizer. It’s a complete SynthStation: a multitimbral synthesis engine with 4 Parts plus a dedicated Drum section, a clip-based arrangement system, an integrated mixer with effects, and a 5-inch high-resolution display that ties the whole workflow together. One instrument replaces a desk full of boxes and it fits beside your laptop.
24 Stereo Voices, Wavetable at the Core
Under the hood, the MD850 runs 24 stereo voices of high-resolution wavetable synthesis. That’s a real wavetable engine — not a sample player dressed up in marketing language. The architecture supports a wide range of synthesis approaches: classic subtractive, FM-style modulation, additive textures, and complex evolving wavetable morphs.
Wavetable Format Compatibility
The MD850 reads the same 2048-sample single-cycle wavetable format used by the most popular software synthesizers. That means decades of community-created wavetables, your own custom designs, and our growing factory library all play natively. No conversion, no compromise.
Wi-Fi Browser Control
Yes, really. The MD850 hosts its own browser-based editor over Wi-Fi. Open it on a tablet, a laptop, or the screen of your choice. No driver installation, no proprietary editor app, no operating system politics.
Built in Austria, Built to Last
Every MD850 Vibes is handcrafted in Austria. Aluminum chassis, real encoders, motorized faders where they belong, and the kind of build quality you only get when the people assembling the instrument are also the people who designed it. We don’t outsource the things that matter.
Why We Built It This Way
You’ll hear us talk a lot at Superbooth about deliberate design choices. The MD850 is a performance synthesizer first. Every architectural decision serves that goal.
That’s also why the MD850 doesn’t implement MPE — and why we’re proud of that decision. The instrument’s 4-Parts-plus-Drums multitimbral architecture is the heart of the SynthStation concept. MPE assumes a single-timbre, single-controller paradigm; the MD850 lives in a different world, where you can play four completely separate synth Parts plus drums simultaneously from a single MIDI controller, sequencer, or DAW. We chose multitimbrality. We’d choose it again.
What’s New for Superbooth 2026
We’ve been quietly working on a lot of things since Superbooth 2025. Without giving everything away before the show, here are a few things you can expect to see at Stand H102:
- A new factory patch library built specifically to showcase the MD850’s range — from cinematic pads to aggressive bass to evolving wavetable textures.
- Fresh wavetable banks including new orchestral, vocal-formant, and FM-derived collections.
- Workflow demonstrations that show how producers and live performers are using the MD850 in real sessions.
- A few surprises we’re saving for the show floor itself. You’ll have to come visit.
